If you are building a blog site with the intent of selling a product or service, you should be aware of 5 types of blog post. These 5 types of posts are perfect for preselling your prospect.

  • Listicles :
      • Simply a list of things to do, places to go, questions to ask, etc.
      • the longer the list, the better.
      • eg: Top 10, Top 38, Top 100 things to do on a deserted island.
  • How-to-____xyz______ :
      • Explain a process that would interest your visitor.
  • Content Aggregator :
      • as mentioned above, curate viral content. (HINT: Use buzzsumo.com)
      • add it to your site and include your views on the subject.
  • Crowd Source :
      • ask a single question to 3 or more ‘experts’.
      • write a blog post that shows the different points of view.
  • Embed Reactors :
      • Find info graphics, youtube, slideshares with massive numbers of views.
      • Embed them on your site and react to (or comment on) it underneath.

Certainly, these can be used on other types of sites too. You can use these posts to raise “problem awareness” to prepare your reader to recognize your solution.

A common way to create content is to use PLR articles as a starting point. There are many ways to use PLR materials to advantage, as discussed here.

Of course, if you have actually used the product that you are promoting, the venerable ‘product review’ approach is highly recommended. Be sure to be fair in your review. List things you disliked as well as things you liked. It is also good to rate the product. Maybe a familiar 5-star system would help your reader make a decision.

Your content should always be:

  • High Quality.
  • Interesting.
  • Targeted to your visitors needs.

DO NOT plagiarize material! Avoid swiping from Google Images as most are copyrighted.

If in doubt, use CopyScape, Plagiarisma or Duplichecker to confirm that your material is unique.

“Do you have any tips on creating quality content?” LOL, I’m so glad you asked! Check this out.
