Google Alerts

November 9th, 2017

So, how would you like to force Google to find backlinking opportunities for you all day long? Anytime I can get Google to work for ME, I get excited. You can do it too.

Once you set this up, Google will begin to constantly monitor the entire web for exactly what you want… places where you can place high value backlinks for free.

Once you teach them what you want, Google will send you an email as often as you like telling you exactly where to go to place your backlink. Every time Google finds a new page, blog, video, or post in your niche… they will instantly notify you. And, it is all free!

Here is how you will do it.

Go to www.google.com/alerts and do the following:

  • Enter your key word phrase
  • Enter the email where you want to receive alerts
  • Select the options you want
  • Click on ‘create alert’
  • DONE!

You will start to receive news about your keyword as soon as Google hears about it.

The option settings I use are:

  • How often: as-it-happens
  • Sources: blogs, web, video, books, discussions
  • How many: all results

But the defaults are generally fine.

When you get an alert, ACT QUICKLY!

Follow the rules I gave regarding comments.. Read the article, watch the video, make useful comments. No “Nice post.” comments. NO SPAM.

Include your link in the post. Link to a blank or unrelated page. This is an important step to getting your comment approved. You want to use a Pretty Link from your site or some link shortening service that can be updated later.

After your comment is approved, redirect the link or update your page content for relevancy. Do 5-10 comments/links per day as Google alerts provides. I guess it should go without saying that you need to make a record of your links and check them periodically.

The advantage to using this trick is that you can often be the first to post a blog/youtube comment. This is HUGE! Your little link placed within your comment will be at the top of the comments section. You must be at the top of the heap to be the most effective. Often, it will stay there because all future comments will appear below yours. As time goes by, nearly everyone who visits that page or video will see your comment and become a possible visitor to your site.

Alrighty then! Let’s return to Blog and Forum Commenting.
