Setup Social Media

February 7th, 2019

SocialI’m not a Social Media kinda guy, but this is a business… you gotta do what you gotta do.

So these days, that means using Social Media for a variety of promotions.

You don’t have to actively market on these platforms, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt.

Choose whichever platforms fit best with your business and work them hard.

In the end though, at a very minimum, your business should have accounts with:

Surprisingly, Google+ was never a real contender in the social platform space. In a rare admission of failure, Google announced in December of 2018 it’s plans to shutdown Google+ for consumer (personal) accounts on April 2, 2019.

The others are still viable platforms and can be used to  drive brand recognition and traffic to your web  properties.  At a minimum, populate these accounts and share some content so that you at least have a base.

  • Use your Primary Keyword for Twitter
    • follow people in your niche
  • Separate YouTube (email) accounts are required for each YouTube channel you create.
    • multiple accounts help protect your videos if YouTube decides to suspend one of them.
  • Use your Primary Keyword to create a new gmail account.
    • NOTE: Google requires phone verification (PVA) for multiple email accounts
  • If you do not want to be phone verified, try the following:
    • Clear your browser’s cookies
    • Use unusual (or variations/misspelling of usual) First and Last names
    • (you can change them later)
    • Use a random password
    • Security Question – choose “Write my own question”
    • Do not enter recovery email
  • Use your new mail account to create a YouTube account.
    • Use your Primary Keyword as the user/channel name.

social-networksHold off on Facebook for now! Create a Facebook Fanpage for your site AFTER you have completed it and while you are waiting for it to be indexed by Google. Later, we will talk about starting Facebook Group to drive traffic.

Now that you have created Social Media Accounts for your new website, you should return to WordPress and update your User Profile with the new information.

This is also a good time to setup traffic tracking.
