Choosing Your Best Model

best monetizationSo, it should be clear that you want to promote affiliate offers to maximize your profits.

This does not mean that you must do affiliate marketing exclusively. You can also monetize your site with contextual ads like Google’s Adsense program… but you know my position on that one. OMG!

I would much rather see you use alternative sources for your contextual ads. Google has a long but sad history of banning Adsense sites and confiscating your money without notice or even giving a reason. Protect your business. Don’t even give them the opportunity to destroy it.

There are plenty of AdSense replacements such as:

And the list goes on…

This method of monetizing your site is based on something known as CPC, ‘Cost per Click’. The network inserts contextual ads into your existing content. When a visitor clicks on one of them, they are taken away from your site to an offer page. You get paid for the click regardless of what happens next.

Sometimes CPA ads can be quite profitable. CPA stands for ‘Cost per Action’ here. A CPA network will pay you a fee for each person who completes an ‘action’ as required by the advertiser.

Making money by promoting CPA offers is a specialized and tricky business. If you want to try it, the first step is to find an offer that is relevant to your keywords.

Find relevant offers at sites such as:

and others.

Email/Zip submit offers don’t generally pay a lot, but it is relatively easy to get your visitors to complete them. Long surveys and highly competitive markets will pay better but are much harder to deliver on. There are Insurance offers, Financial, Biz Opps, Coupons and Daily Deals. All sorts of offers in all sorts of niches. Each one pays you every time a visitor completes the required action.

Each offer comes with certain restrictions regarding valid country, use of incentives, marketing methods, platforms, etc. These restrictions must be honored if you wish to continue doing business with that CPA network and collect your money.

Before publishing an offer on your site, you must first be approved by the CPA network. Sometimes this cannot be done without a referral from an existing member.

Here is a list of some of the top CPA networks:

They all have their own websites where you can find suitable offers after you are approved.

Be sure your site has been indexed by Google for a few days before you actually install links aimed at monetizing it. Some say it doesn’t matter anymore but Google tends to frown on internet sites which are designed solely to make money. Apparently, they think they are the only ones who should be allowed to do that. Your site will not rank very well if Google decides it’s just another worthless affiliate sales site.

The affiliate sales model is known as CPS or ‘Cost per Sale’. Purchases made on your site are tracked through your affiliate link and you get paid for the sale. There is usually a waiting period of 30-60 days to allow for returns and such. Prime the pump and the money flows each month.

So, how do we become an affiliate? How do we find affiliate offers to promote?

tunnelYou remember. Way back at the beginning we talked about how to find a product. Maybe you already took action on those steps and are ready to more forward. If not, go back and review that information now.

Become an affiliate for the product or services that best fit your niche and insert your links into your site.

Use powerful calls-to-action. Your visitors need clear directions about what you want them to do. Don’t let them guess. Ask for the sale or you will not get it.

Be very careful. Don’t let a secondary source of income distract visitors from the primary mission of your site which is to make affiliate product sales.

Well. That’s it. If you have finished monetizing your site, it is once again time to pat yourself on the back for a job well done. You are nearly finished. Your site is completed and ready to go.

But don’t stop now! There is one last piece of the puzzle to accomplish. And this one is what makes it all worthwhile. What’s that line from ‘Jerry Maguire’? ‘Show me the money!’ LOL

Let’s go learn how to learn about your site’s required pages.
