Choose a Niche

When choosing a niche, you are looking to see what people want, and/or, are interested in.

  • Try Amazon for what’s happening at the world’s largest online retailer.
  • Check eBay for what’s selling on the world’s auction site.
  • Visit eHow for the Top 10 things people want to learn about.
  • Peek at Google Trends to catch a buzz.
  • Consider what Google Product Search finds interesting.
  • Inspect CBEngine or CBTrends for ClickBank best sellers.
  • Believe that Magazine covers are well researched for popularity and can trigger great ideas.
  • Remember that Google News announcements can signal hot new product offerings.

Ask yourself when doing your research, “Is there enough diversity in the keywords of this niche to allow me to create a site that will provide a good user experience, while also getting enough traffic to be profitable.” By thinking this way with your planning, you will have no problems with Google, as you are essentially giving them what they want.

Another simple rule of thumb is to ask yourself if you think you can create at least three different categories in your site, as this will provide diversity in the content, assuming you have a few articles in each category.

The classic (Evergreen) money making niches are related to:

  • Health.
  • Wealth.
  • Relationships and Self Improvement.

No coincidence that these are the same three blessings offered in many cultures after a sneeze.

  • that is, Health, Money, and Love.

Your niche should have:

  • multiple products already available. (5 or more.)
  • ‘Fragmented Keywords‘ with many synonyms to describe the product niche.

Niches must involve the following three attributes on the part of your target market:

  1. A Problem.
  2. Pain.
  3. Passion.

Typical advice commonly given regarding niche selection include the following.

Your niche,

  1. Should be something you are interested in!
    Subject knowledge and passion gives you a big head start.
  2. Should have potential readers that always want more!
    Google can be your partner if you constantly refresh your site with new and interesting content.
  3. Should have several Products and/or Services available.
    Multiple choices will indicate a viable market, and good possibilities to create your own ebook or course!
  4. Should have Authority websites built around it.
    Stop thinking of them as competition but, rather potential partners and a good source of post content, (articles), ideas, themes, social hangouts, etc.
  5. Should have Forums.
    These are also good source of article ideas, a finger on the pulse of the market, and a chance to interact directly with your market.

In general, consider Hobby Niches because they are:

  1. Easy to monetize in multiple ways.
  2. Involve passion from your market.
  3. Provide benefits such as market size, seasonal sales volumes, many sources of information.
